ボストンにある私の分子病理疫学(MPE)研究室で研究室員（computational biologist, bioinformatician， anatomic pathologist あるいは他の分野）を募集しています。私のMPE研究室は中心はBrigham and Women’s Hospitalに位置しながらハーバード大学関連のいくつかの施設（Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard）にまたがって存在し、機能しています（従来のラボの概念を超越しています）。経験、能力（特にComputational biology/bioinformatics、 Anatomic Pathologyの能力）がマッチすれば、給与を全額サポートします。
その他のバックグラウンドの方ですと自前のグラント（フェローシップ等）サポートがありますと、ポジションをオファーする可能性がさらに高まります。Epidemiology、Biostatistics、Molecular Biology、Immunology, Microbiology, 臨床医学のbackgroundを持つ方も考慮しており、得意な分野・経験を生かしていただきます。プロジェクトはMolecular Pathological Epidemiology (MPE、分子病理疫学)、Immunology-MPE（免疫分子病理疫学）、Microbiology-MPE（微生物分子病理疫学）、消化器腫瘍研究、病気を限定しないMPE解析手法の開発、あるいはMPEと他の分野とのあらたな統合分野の開発と多岐にわたります。
ラボメンバーのキャリアサポートも充実しています。これまで50人以上のメンバーが栄転していきました。2018年には所属病院よりメンター賞の準優勝を受けることができました。私の指導のもとで、人にもよりますが、2年間の研究留学で、筆頭著者として2−6本の高質の論文を出した人が多数います。更に、筆頭著者として書いていただくのとはまた別の論文で共筆頭著者になる頻度が大変多いのが私のラボの特長です。つまりほば全ての論文でCo-First Authorship 制をとって各々のラボメンバーの成果をより大きくしています。事実、たとえ共筆頭著者がいても、筆頭著者の価値はいたさかも揺るぐものではありません。
分子病理疫学（MPE）は私が創造した学問分野で、その名が示すとおり、分子病理学と疫学の統合学問分野です（Ogino et al. JNCI 2010; Ogino et al. Lancet 2018; Ogino et al. Annu Rev Pathol 2019; Nat Rev Clin Oncol, online； etc)。私は2013年に国際分子病理疫学学会を設立し、第5回国際分子病理疫学学会を2021年5月に行います(www.mpemeeting.org)。このように分子病理疫学の歴史を作っています。
近年の主要プロジェクトとしては、大腸癌をモデルとして、癌と免疫システムの相互作用への、環境因子や微生物因子の影響を、大規模集団とデータベースを駆使して調べています。これらの分野を免疫分子病理疫学（Immunology-MPE）と微生物分子病理疫学（Microbiology-MPE）として設立し、先頭を走っています。これらの分野は免疫療法 (Immunotherapy)、免疫予防 (Immunoprevention) に寄与するものと期待されています。Computational biologyとBioinformaticsの手法を使って、免疫分子病理疫学と微生物分子病理疫学をさらに発展させるのも重要プロジェクトです。
私は日本人で現在唯一のNCI R35 Outstanding Investigator Award (OIA) グラント保持者のようです(http://grantome.com/grant/NIH/R35-CA197735-01)。 このNCI R35は全米でこれまで6年間の累計でも150人弱（１ステートあたりわずか3人程度）しかとれていないグラントです。更に私のラボはNCIとCancer Research UKのCancer Grand Challengeというプログラムで総額約30億円を獲得した国際チームに入っています。https://cancergrandchallenges.org/teams/optimisticc

I am seeking candidates for research positions (pathologist, computational biologist, bioinformatician, or other experts) in my laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, all in the Boston area, USA. Salary can be offered if a candidate has specific skills and expertise in computational biology, bioinformatics, or anatomic pathology. Candidates in other areas can be considered; other areas include epidemiology, biostatistics, molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, and clinical medicine. Candidates with funding support will be favorably considered, but candidates without funding will also be considered.
My Molecular Pathological Epidemiology (MPE) Laboratory is a very unique, interdisciplinary multi-institutional laboratory. I have been selected to receive 7-year funding of the Outstanding Investigator Award (OIA) from NIH/NCI (2015-2022; http://grantome.com/grant/NIH/R35-CA197735-01). Furthermore, my lab is a member of a funded team in the Cancer Grand Challenge program of the Cancer Research UK and USA NCI (https://cancergrandchallenges.org/teams/optimisticc).
I established an integrative science of MPE (Ogino et al. J Natl Cancer Inst 2010; Ogino et al. Lancet 2018; Ogino et al. Annu Rev Pathol 2019; Akimoto et al. Nat Rev Clin Oncol, online; etc), and have been making the history of MPE. I have been organizing the International MPE Meeting Series (www.mpemeeting.org), and the 5th meeting will be held in Boston in May 2021. My MPE lab has been working on not only gastrointestinal cancers but also statistical methods that can be used in many different areas. Supporting career development of laboratory members is my top priority. I try to maximize credits of laboratory members by making co-first authors in most of research papers from my lab. Over 50 past lab members have attained independent positions in various settings around the world. I received an honor of “Runner-up for the Mentor-of-the-Year Award” from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2018.
